Joining up with a G.I. Joe podcast

I had an opportunity to be part of the G.I. Joe podcast created by the folks at the GI Joe Rec Room, a Facebook discussion group. You can now “view it” on YouTube.

Will I be asked back for another one? I sure hope so, since I have lots of G.I. Joe thoughts to let loose on the world. Of course, you can find a lot of them here, but you never know what I may dream up on the fly!

If we were to continue recording more of these, what sort of Joe-related topics would you like to hear? Our host, Matt Giancarlo, did a great job with coming up with some interesting discussion points.

Topic Ideas for a G.I. Joe Podcast

Some topics I would love to discuss:

  • The mix of modern tech with sci-fi elements in G.I. Joe.
  • The success at which the cartoon was able to introduce new characters and toys into the show.
  • The structure of G.I. Joe — Who’s the boss? Where do recruits come from? How are they nominated?
  • The structure of Cobra — How big is this organization? How do they fund their operations?
  • Tips to keep your collection in good shape.
  • How to keep a collection organized.
  • Favorite single-man vehicles.
  • Put together a 5-person squad for a particular situation.
  • Ideas for new characters and vehicles.
  • The various sub-genres and how we may have missed out on some cool trends.

Like I find myself thinking way too much about G.I. Joe from time to time, and a place like the Rec Room helps me learn more about the hobby all the time. The same can be said for the many other sites dedicated to this toyline!

Have you got any questions about the G.I. Joe Universe and toy line? Silly or otherwise? Leave your ideas in the comments below!

Yo, Joe!
